ABOUT W-A-Y PROGRAM

In 2007, an international search for a model of success in personalizing education for disenfranchised youth was conducted. The intent was to pilot a program that would revolutionize the educational system in the United States. Notschool.net, the flagship program of the Inclusion Trust, a non-profit organization in the United Kingdom was found to possess the attributes most worthy of emulation.

A pilot program was launched in February of 2009. The outstanding success and positive feedback from the participating districts led to the foundation of the W-A-Y Program (Widening Advancements for Youth) a non-profit organization, in July of 2010. The focus of the W-A-Y Program is to re-engage youth across the United States, using the model that is based off of the highly acclaimed NotSchool. The W-A-Y Program currently has the only official partnership with the Inclusion Trust within the United States, recognizing the universal need for change in education.

Currently, we service over 70 school districts throughout Michigan and Florida whose at risk youth have access to re-engage in the learning process through one of our 11 regional locations. We look forward to future partnerships and continued opportunities to expand our program on a local, national, and international level.
